About Us
Our Story
Saxapahaw Campground was conceived to provide a unique camping experience for visitors to the village of Saxapahaw and surrounding area with its many attractions and activities. The campground encompasses 10 acres of beautiful wooded land and is located right on the Haw River just below the Saxapahaw dam. It is an easy 10-12 minute walk from the campground to the village of Saxapahaw.
Amenities
Fresh drinking water is available in several locations around the campground. Food and supplies can be found in the village of Saxapahaw. For easy access to the village, the Haw River Hiking Trail runs along the river’s edge and provides a path to the bridge to cross the river. It's an easy 10-12 minute walk to the village. There is a central gathering place under the 22×40 foot pavilion which is located in the middle of the campground. Another popular area is around the campground main fire pit, which is close to the river's bank. There are two nice hot outdoor showers for bathing and our clean and frequently serviced toilet house provide real flush toilets. Included with your camping is free Wi-fi as well as free ice from our self-serve ice house.
Additionally, if you need fire wood, we do sell dry, seasoned, split firewood for $25 a wagon load, $15 for a 1/2 load. We deliver it to your campsite. Strategically placed trash receptacles are provided to help you keep the campground clean.

Camping Options/Rates
Guest can choose between bringing their own tent/hammocks or renting our Tree Pod or Tandem Pod or one of the two cabins we have.
All camp areas have their own picnic table, fire ring, and camp grill (charcoal type). Some camp areas can accommodate a small pop-up or teardrop camper and we do allow van or truck slide in campers (no power/sewer hookups at any campsites). Camp areas are $42/night which includes up to 2 people. For more than 2 people in the same camp area there is a $15/night extra charge per person (regardless of age). All camp areas can accommodate 2 or more tents, depending on tent size. Our Tree Pod is $110/night and our Tandem Pod is $210/night. Sagebrush and Chestnut cabins are $110/night and have heat and A/C. The cabins have a queen bed with a cot option ($15 extra) for a third person. The Tree Pod can accommodate up to 4 people and the Tandem Pod can sleep 8. Our max stay on the campground is two weeks. We are not set up for RV's or large travel trailers and do not allow them.

We do not allow campers to bring pets.
Our Pavilion
The campground pavilion is a great gathering place and is perfect for things like family reunions, cook outs, and birthday parties! The pavilion has power, lights, two camp grills and a sound system. It can be reserved separately, $70 for a half day (4 hours), $120 for a full day (8 hours). The pavilion rental cost includes campers plus an extra 10 guest.
